One of TIME 's 100 Must Read Books of 2020 and one of Good Housekeeping's Best Books of the Year One of the smartest young writers of her generation. ”Book Riot From New York Times bestselling author of This Will Be My Undoing Morgan Jerkins, a powerful story of her journey to understand her northern and southern roots, the Great Migration, and the displacement of black people across America. Between 1916 and 1970, six million black Americans left their rural homes in the South for jobs in cities in the North, West, and Midwest in a movement known as The Great Migration. But while this event transformed the complexion of America and provided black people with new economic opportunities, it also disconnected them from their roots, their land, and their sense of identity, argues Morgan Jerkins.

In this fascinating and deeply personal exploration, she recreates her ancestors' journeys across America, following the migratory routes they took from Georgia and South Carolina to Louisiana, Oklahoma, and California. Following in their footsteps, Jerkins seeks to understand not only her own past, but the lineage of an entire group of people who have been displaced, disenfranchised, and disrespected throughout our history.

Through interviews, photos, and hundreds of pages of transcription, Jerkins braids the loose threads of her family's oral histories, which she was able to trace back 300 years, with the insights and recollections of black people she met along the way”the tissue of black myths, customs, and blood that connect the bones of American history.

Incisive and illuminating, Wandering in Strange Lands is a timely and enthralling look at America's past and present, one family's legacy, and a young black woman's life, filtered through her sharp and curious eyes.

Carbon Carhartt
Size: XX-Large, Color: Carbon Heather
Classic Carhartt quality. Reasonably thick t shirt with a bit of stretch, but still sturdy and rugged. I put this on as soon as it arrived. I have nothing but a plethora of carhartt t's for the spring and summer. Added this color, Carbon Heather, to my collection. It looks plain cool. Almost like carbon fiber.

Perfect for casual or weekend wear whether working at home or relaxing
Size: XX-Large Tall, Color: Dusty Olive
Comfortable material. Durable, I ordered size 2xl tall and love that it’s a casual shirt that is long and even if I lift my arms up my belly isn’t exposed. Neckline isn’t too tight I usually prefer a v neck but this shirt is so big the neck doesn’t feel tight or constricting. Great value for its price. I will be wearing this at home and on the weekends for sure.

Classic look, great feel and great price.
Color: Black, Size: X-Large
Super comfy and casual, but classy enough that it can be worn out. I find this shirt extremely comfortable, it is a classic look and is very flattering. I wear a size 14 and the XL is loose but not baggy. It washes well, does not wrinkle if I get it out of the dryer and folded in appropriate time, and the material is a good weight for the cost of the shirt. I would likely buy again as this is a great summer staple.

Runs true to size and well made!
Color: Black, Size: Medium
I am very pleased with the size and cut of this top. I hesitated on sizing (at 5'1" and 105 lb) because I like a looser fit and am sometimes given different size recommendations. Many times the tops are too large and must be altered or simply passed on to thrift stores. This shirt in a medium is perfect in its fit, flows nicely. The neckline is not too low, but more like a shirt with a couple of top buttons unbuttoned- no gap. The sleeve length is good for me as my shoulders are a bit narrow. (I checked and no way to remove the stitches that hold the sleeve into a cuff. They are deeply embedded into this soft opaque fabric that has some stretch. (Even with the best of seam rippers and sharp eyesight!)I think the rolled cuff is cute! Top drapes well and is a great length for jeans or shorts- dressy casual wear, with its perfect fabric thickness. I really like the black color. I would not wear it with leggings because of the length, but jeggings are great with it. The little contrasting buttons are a nice touch. Great value buy.
